Why licensing matters in Arizona
Arizona requires a contractor license for most work beyond very small jobs. The license is overseen by the Arizona Registrar of Contractors. Hiring someone who is not properly licensed can leave you with fewer protections if the work goes wrong.
This page is general information and not legal advice. For questions about what requires a license, the Registrar of Contractors is the right source.
Verify any contractor
You can look up any contractor at roc.az.gov. Check that the license is active and that the name and number match the company you are hiring. Our license number is ROC#335225, and we encourage you to look us up.
It is a good habit to do this every time, whether you hire us or anyone else.
Bonded and accredited
Charme and Sons is bonded. We are also BBB Accredited and a 2024 Community's Choice Award winner in the Best of the Desert, East Valley program.
If you, your property manager or your insurer need documentation, ask us. We will tell you what we can provide.
What a license tells you
A contractor license is the state's way of confirming that a company has met the requirements to do certain kinds of work in Arizona and is accountable to a regulator. It gives you a place to check a company's standing and a way to raise a complaint if something goes wrong. It is one of the most useful pieces of information you can have before you hire anyone.
Questions worth asking any contractor
Whether you hire us or someone else, these questions help you compare fairly:
- What is your license number, and can I verify it with the Registrar of Contractors?
- Are you bonded, and can you tell me what that covers?
- Will you give me the price before the work begins?
- Who will actually do the work at my home?
- What happens if something is not right after you finish?
What we take on and what we refer out
We take on the handyman and repair work described on our service pages. Some jobs, such as major electrical work, gas lines, structural changes and roofing, call for a different kind of licensed professional, and we will tell you when that is the case. This page is general information, not legal advice, and the Registrar of Contractors is the best source for questions about what requires which license.
“Nathan did an amazing job switching the closet door hinges on my master closet to maximize my space and the work looks great! Will definitely be using him again as he has a wide scope of expertise”
