What the job involves
Trim takes a beating from vacuums, feet and hands, and it needs a harder finish than walls. We clean the surface, sand it, caulk the seams, fill nail holes, prime where needed and apply a semi-gloss or satin enamel in smooth coats.
For doors, we usually take them off the hinges or lay them flat when we can, remove hardware and paint all the faces and edges so there are no drips or brush marks.
- Baseboards, door casing and window trim
- Interior doors, including closet and bedroom doors
- Front and exterior doors
- Caulking and filling before paint
- Hardware removal and reinstallation
Why it matters in Arizona
Front doors take the most sun and heat in the house, so exterior paint fades and peels faster there. A properly prepped and painted door lasts longer and looks better.
Inside, white trim can yellow over time, especially with older oil-based paints. Repainting trim and doors is one of the quickest ways to make a room look fresher.
How a visit goes
We look at the trim and doors, agree on the color and sheen and plan the order of work so wet paint is not in your way. We protect floors, prep and paint, then check for drips and touch up.
If you are installing new trim or doors, we can paint them as part of the same job. If the work involves new trim or doors, we coordinate it so the finish goes on after installation.
What affects the cost
Linear feet of trim and the number of doors are the main drivers. Heavy repair work, dark to light color changes and the number of coats add time.
We give you a free estimate and an upfront price.
When it needs a different approach
Rotted exterior trim or a warped door should be repaired or replaced rather than painted over. We can do that repair first, or tell you when replacement is the better value.
“Nathan did an amazing job switching the closet door hinges on my master closet to maximize my space and the work looks great! Will definitely be using him again as he has a wide scope of expertise”
